Emerge Aotearoa is a committed Tangata Tiriti organisation and a national provider of mental health, addiction, disability, offender rehabilitation, well-being, and housing services.

Emerge Aotearoa is a not-for-profit organisation employing 1300 kaimahi (employees) and providing services across New Zealand. The core values of the organisation are based on Māori concepts Whakawhanaunga, Manaakitanga, Ako and Whakamana.

He kōrero mō te tūranga | The Role


Based in our Hamilton hub, you will join a team of 8 others within the Workforce Development Team who are spread across each of our main hubs (Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland).


Your ability to create and deliver engaging in-person and virtual learning experiences that increase the confidence and capability of our kaimahi is key.


Ideally you will have a good understanding of the Health and Disability Sector and able to deliver to the Health and Disability Service Standards and other contractual requirements or the ability learn quickly.


More importantly we are looking for people who can relate to our adult learners, understand the importance of providing effective training to build up our workforce capability who ultimately provide outstanding support to tangata whaiora (clients) and their whānau who access our services.


This position is permanent fulltime and will require regular overnight travel as we have services throughout the Midlands region as well as providing some support to the role based in Auckland.


He kōrero mōu | About You
We are looking to hear from people who have the following experience.

  • A relevant tertiary level qualification e.g., New Zealand Certificate in Adult Teaching/Education (level 5) or equivalent
  • At least three years relevant experience working as a facilitator/educator/trainer/coach
  • Have previous experience teaching adult learners
  • Previous experience designing relevant training material which could include eLearning's, Videos, YouTube, Webinars
  • Experience facilitating group or individual workshops and training sessions
  • An understanding and working knowledge of adult learning principles
  • A proven ability to make sound judgements, taking into consideration customer needs along with the broader organisational context
  • An ability to influence, negotiate and partner with various stakeholder groups
  • A full New Zealand driver licence is required as is flexibility and a willingness to travel being crucial
