Mō te tūranga | About the role

  • Ensure Waikato Regional Council learning opportunities enable achievement of organisational strategies, goals, and priorities.
  • Collaborate with the broader People and Capability team and Waikato Regional Council leaders to ensure appropriate learning opportunities are developed, sourced, and curated. The concept of selfled, lifelong learning is championed.
  • Be responsible for supporting and enabling a constructive organisational culture by contributing to organisational development initiatives.
  • Contribute to the development and practices designed to engage and support our people's performance.
  • Represent WRC in the Co-Lab joint L&D venture, liaising with colleagues in other Co-Lab councils.
  • Responsibility for 1 direct report, People & Capability Coordinator.

Mō te tangata | About you

  • Well versed in contemporary adult learning techniques, including behaviour change theory, and blended & online learning.
  • Highly organised with the ability to plan and prioritise to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills written and verbal.
  • Ability to deliver in a political environment that could be high pressure and rapidly changing while dealing with sensitive and confidential issues.

Mō ngā pūkenga | Qualifications and experience

  • Tertiary qualification in psychology, human resources, adult education, or similar.
  • Post Grad qualification in Organisational Psychology, Adult Learning or similar.
  • 7 to 8 years' experience in L&D roles.
  • Proven success at building relationships and resolving issues with internal and external stakeholders.
