Research and Communications Manager for National Leader's Office

About us

The National Leader's Office (NLO) supports the National Party Leader and National Party MPs, by providing communications services, research support, and general/financial management. We are a dynamic and forward-thinking political organisation, working closely with our MPs, and colleagues in the Prime Minister's Office and Ministerial Services.

About the role

As the Research and Communications Manager, you will manage the team providing high-quality communications and research support to National MPs and their offices.

Some of your responsibilities include:

  • Manage the Government Research and Communications Unit, ensuring high quality support to National MPs, including in your own designated portfolio
  • Support National MPs' offices with announcements and communications related issues
  • Develop, maintain and deliver outreach plans to help National MPs engage with communities
  • Support National MPs with the legislative process, including members' bills.

Qualifications/experience

  • 3+ years experience in a communications or research role
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills
  • Strong understanding of New Zealand's political landscape and the legislative process
  • Demonstrated success in leading communication strategies and achieving measurable results

The pay band for the role starts at $120,000 per annum and appointments will be based on skills and experience. Employees are employed on an 'events based' agreement, with your employment linked to the Leader of the National Party. This role is based at the Parliamentary precinct in Wellington, for 40 hours per week.
