Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity

Join the Hospital and Specialist Services leadership team as Director of the Office.

You'll be supporting the National and Regional Directors, leadership team and wider group to ensure work is running smoothly and meeting all the timeframes and requirements needed.

This role will see you take a lead on the pastoral and development needs of the Group, managing capacity and capability and feeding back to key leaders.

The Director of the Office will collaborate with the wider team to coordinate work planning, making use of tools and methodologies to act strategically and drive results.

The day to day of this role will see you producing reports, representing the group at project meetings, coordinating briefings, PQs, OIAs and Ministerials and building relationships internally and externally.

Longer term, you will lead the development of annual business plans, provide support through all change initiatives and ensure team culture is supportive and high performing.

You are an experienced senior leader with an extensive history of supporting teams and key leaders in a public sector environment.

Your career has seen you gain solid experience influencing at a high level, with execs and boards.

You are confident leading during times of change and transformation and can make key decisions even in an ambiguous environment.

You're happy to manage the day to day but also keep an eye on the big picture, supporting leaders and staff to achieve their best.

Due to the in-person requirements of this role, it is Wellington based

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience

This role requires and/or would benefit from the following;

Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a willingness to learn and grow

Tertiary qualification in a relevant field and/or equivalent experience

An ability to take complex information and synthesise into key messages for relevant audiences

Experience managing business processes and budgets

Substantial leadership experience at a senior level, preferable within a Government or Health context

The ability to build trust and confidence with the Director, Chief Executive and others though your systems, processes and people, and ability to enhance and formalise systems and procedures.
