As the Parliamentary Communications, Research and Policy Advisor (with EA Duties) to Joseph Mooney, you'll put your high-quality research skills and policy knowledge into action, while providing top-notch executive support on the Parliamentary precinct, in this unique and rewarding role.


Joining Team Mooney will see you happy to work autonomously in his Parliament office, while being a committed part of Joseph's wider team of colleagues who are based in the Southland Electorate Offices.

The ability to build strong and trusted relationships is key to being successful in this role.


Joseph is the National Spokesperson for the following portfolios: Tourism, Treaty Negotiations, Forestry and Space, and the Associate Spokesperson for Agriculture.

He sits on the Primary Production Select Committee.


An organised and methodical approach to research and compiling information in Joseph's portfolio areas is a key deliverable of this role.

You will have a well-honed ability to analyse, interpret and collate data, compile statistics, produce reports and distil information to contribute to policy development.

You will be well-known for your agility, initiative, and attention to detail in responding to competing priorities.

Parliament is a busy place, where change is a constant challenge; your inherent resilience and calm, adaptable nature, alongside your ability to be proactive and flexible solutions-based mindset will see you poised to thrive.

It is important that you can uphold a high level of confidentiality on any matter with discretion and an earnest presence of mind.


As an employee of Parliamentary Service, you will be apolitical in your role, though an awareness of the political landscape may be beneficial in supporting Joseph.


To ensure our people feel supported and enabled to grow and develop their career, you will receive a Parliamentary Service induction to set you up to succeed within this environment, as well as ongoing learning and development opportunities.

This is an events-based, fixed term role linked to the Member of Parliament, working 40 hours per week. The appointing salary band for this role is $64,954 to $89,621 per annum.

Appointments will be based on your skills and experience.
