We are in search of a motivated and talented Senior Stakeholder Engagement Advisor to join a small, high-performing team that's committed to collaboration and achieving results.

This role is a 12 month fixed term or secondment opportunity based in Wellington.

As a Senior Stakeholder Engagement Advisor, you will focus on developing and driving Customs' stakeholder engagement campaigns and outcomes including for the New Zealand Traveller Declaration (NZTD).

The NZTD is an online system that allows travellers to complete a digital declaration for entry into New Zealand.

With NZTD going live in mid-late 2023, stakeholder engagement across travellers, government and external partners will be critical to the success of NZTD, and the time is right to grow our team in this space.

You will need to

  • Demonstrate a thorough and uptodate understanding of engagement and stakeholder management best practices.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance strategic messages and supporting education campaigns for effective stakeholder engagement internally, externally, and internationally.
  • Bring exceptional writing skills, and the ability to articulate complex projects or initiatives into clear and engaging narratives.
  • Build, maintain, and leverage relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including industry.
  • Provide guidance and support for Customs' key relationship managers.
  • Provide stakeholder engagementfocussed mentoring and coaching for staff across Customs.
  • Monitor work plans to ensure that all engagement activities contribute to Customs' and the Border Executive Board's vision.

We are looking for someone with

  • Substantive experience in a senior engagement role developing and implementing internal and external marketing and education campaigns.
  • The ability to think critically and strategically about issues and to develop fitforpurpose strategies and/or campaigns.
  • Demonstrable competence in building strong networks and relationships to enhance brand exposure and strategic narratives.
  • The ability to interpret data to understand multiple audience needs and develop plans that tailor communications accordingly.
  • Welldeveloped influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.
