The National Security Group (NSG) within the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (DPMC) provides leadership across New Zealand's national security community to strengthen national resilience and improve coordination and collaboration on nationally significant issues.

Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role

The Senior Advisor, Engagement role is part of the team that supports the government's response to the Royal Commission of Inquiry into the terrorist attack on Christchurch masjidain.

The role is to advise and guide the development of engagement capability across RCOI agencies and within NSG itself. You will also assist in the design, delivery, monitoring and evaluation of stakeholder and community engagement projects.

Experience in and understanding of the public sector and policy development will be crucial to being successful in this role.

This is an exciting opportunity where you will be able to further broaden and develop your engagement skills.

Specifically, your responsibilities will fall into three categories:

  • Engagement
  • supporting the co-ordination of RCOI cross-agency engagement and development of engagement practices within NSG
  • Stakeholder and relationship management building a strong stakeholder network to gather and share quality information across the system
  • Strategic thinking contributing to the longerterm engagement and relationship management strategies and plans including delivery of policy products and documents that support Ministers decision making

Eligibility requirements
To be eligible for this position, you must have been a NZ citizen for at least 10 years.

Alternatively, you must hold NZ Permanent Residence or hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and have been a citizen of UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years.
