The Principal Advisor, Events and Stakeholder Engagement proactively manages relationships with stakeholders and delivers excellent services and internal and external events across the Ministry.

The role also provides event advice and support to the Secretary for Education and the Leadership Team. The Ministry places a high priority on its relationships across the sector.

This role is pivotal in ensuring the reputation of the Ministry is enhanced with key stakeholders by delivering professionally run and appropriately focused events, both physical and online.


Key accountabilities of the position include:

  • Working across the Ministry and developing networks at high levels of the organisation and sector to support successful delivery of the role
  • Maintaining a strategic view of stakeholder activities and events across the Ministry
  • Proactively identifying opportunities for the Ministry to enhance its engagement with external and internal stakeholders
  • Leading the development, project management and implementation of plans to deliver key stakeholder events
  • Facilitating delivery of nonphysical events through various channels, including webinars, livestreams, and other digital platforms
Mōhou ake | About you

We are looking for a Principal Advisor, Events & Stakeholder Engagement, with proven experience in delivering events and managing stakeholders in large organisations and on a national level, with a track record of successfully managing relationships with senior decision makers and external stakeholders.

You will have experience in and the ability to develop strong working relationships with Māori, Pacific peoples and people from diverse backgrounds.

You will be able to see the big picture and recognise and manage associated risks and opportunities across a wide range of situations.

You will be curious, honest, and courageous, resilient, and self-aware.
Mātau rōpū ake | About our ministry, group, and team

At Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga, we work to provide services and support nationally, regionally and locally to the education sector, and in some cases, directly to ākonga and whānau.

To better deliver on this, the Communications, Engagement and Ministerials Group within Te Pou Rangatōpū l Corporate is undergoing an exciting transformation as it reshapes itself for the future.
