Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity

We are looking for a Nurse co-ordinator with a passion for preventive measures to help with the co-ordination in organising and facilitating the administration of Palivizumab injections for our tamariki within the Waikato region.

The MoH and Pharmac funded this medication last year which will prevent RSV infections during the peak season for children that meet a strict criteria.

You will liaise with parents/caregivers, whānau members, MDT teams, booking clerks, medical and nursing staff in co-ordinating the processes.

With an equity focus, you will also be able to arrange appointments and travel to the rural hospitals to administer the medication.

Mō tātou Ratonga | About our Service
This service will predominantly work from Waikids Clinics in Hamilton across different paediatric and neonatal settings.

The successful incumbent will assess the number of eligible children that meets criteria for the medication and liaise with whānau and rural hospitals or external service providers to deliver equitable care.

Mōu | About you
Required skills & experience you will need to be considered for this role:

Knowledge and understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi

Assess, prioritise and plan patients to receive treatment in a timely manner

Liaise with the pharmacy in procuring the medication and maintaining cold-chain

Co-ordinate with the multi-disciplinary team for consent and special authority

Engage with parents, caregivers and whānau members to alleviate concerns and provide reassurance

Liaise with rural hospitals to arrange appointments in administering medications there

Follow up with patients and organise future bookings

Provide a monthly report on the number of eligible children and progress with Palivizumab

Show attention to detail in their clinical practice

Confident to work independently

Enjoys supporting others to excel

Is well organised with excellent verbal, written and digital skills

Interested in developing and taking the next step

Can commence in the role at the earliest
