We are currently seeking an experienced AOD clinician or Registered Nurse with clear transferable skills relating to AOD and a passion for innovation and delivering services differently to join us in our Community Alcohol and Drug services (CADS) team as a Triage clinician.


The CADS Triage clinician is the first point of contact for Tangata Whaiora, whanau and referrers into CADS, providing a warm welcome and supporting navigation to the right supports whether that is within services or external.

This is a dynamic and rewarding role, with opportunity to focus on harm reduction and be an integral part of the CADS team and linking across other providers.

The mental health and addictions service deliver a variety of services across the Waikato region.

We are a service undertaking a huge programme of change to deliver better outcomes to tāngata whai ora and whānau in our region.

CADS are a diverse and experienced team providing a robust multi-disciplinary approach to care working Monday to Friday. CADS works with tangata whaiora and whanau at the centre of care, utilising a therapeutic, recovery focussed model.

Ongoing collegial support is a core component of the team alongside a strong theme on continuing to grow individual and team's knowledge and skills.

CADS focus on wellbeing sits across both supporting tangata whaiora and wellbeing within the team.

We are undergoing an exciting process of change supporting addressing equity for Maori.

Upskilling the team in Maori models of care, challenging stigma and moving to a culturally safe service are key components of this.

Mōu | About you
Required skills & experience you will need to be considered for this role:

A current annual practicing certificate enabling working in the mental health and addictions sector

Significant experience working with complexities and severity with Alcohol use disorder and/or substance use disorder

Working knowledge of the co-existing problems model

Ability to confidently assess, formulate presentation and risk and report this to MDT in a clear and concise manner

Interpersonal skills, therapeutic engagement, critical thinking and communication skills

The ability to be service user/tangata whaiora focussed, innovative and work effectively in a multidisciplinary team as well as autonomously

A good understanding of the community and services available

Knowledge and understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi

A current full driver's license
