Job responsibilities

  • As the Medical Coordinator, under the guidance and in close collaboration of the General Medical Officer you will be responsible for the planning, coordination, operation, and logistics of all medical services for the tournament.
  • The Medical Coordinator:
  • Will support the Medical Manager in coordinating and administering the appointment of the health care professionals required for the tournament.
  • Will assist in coordinating the provision of medical services including medical staff, medical transport (ambulances, air rescue etc.), hospitals (beds, emergency rooms etc.), and other medical services to all tournament stakeholders
  • Will support the Medical Manager in the administration of tournament medical budgets and financial planning
  • Will assist in ensuring appropriate training is provided to medical service providers prior to and during the tournament.

Job duties

  • The Medical Coordinator will be based in the Auckland office and under the supervision of the Medical Manager be responsible for:
  • Assisting the Medical Manager in the administration and operation of the medical plan in support of the General Medical Officer, including but not limited to the management of medical personnel, infrastructure, equipment, communication and logistics;
  • Assisting the Medical Manager in the administration of 24/7 medical services to tournament attendees nationally;
  • Assist the Medical Manager in the planning, coordination, and movement of medical staff across the tournament venues;
  • Assist the Medical Manager in administering and coordinating the contracting of emergency ambulance medical services to provide medical services within the host city stadiums and in and around the city environments during the tournament;
  • Assist the Medical Manager in coordinating the training of tournament medical providers to ensure quality medical services to all attendees;
  • Assist the Medical Manager in administering stadium medical services in the host cities.
  • Support the Medical Manager to ensure availability of comprehensive communication systems for all medical staff and coordinate its integration with the relevant venue command communication;
  • Assist in the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for tournament medical services
  • Assist the Medical Manager in preparing the tournament medical services handbook for all attendees;
  • Support the Medical Manager to ensure the effective communication to teams of the requirements, obligations and processes for the importation of medical equipment and pharmaceuticals prior to the tournament.

Qualifications & experience

To be successful in this role you need to have an administrative background in healthcare with knowledge of the New Zealand Health system.

Experience in organising and delivering sports/mass gathering event medical services in an operative function is essential. Comprehensive education and knowledge of project management. Knowledge of the basic systems used in local civilian pre-hospital emergency services is a must.
Skills
This position requires high energy levels, ability to work across various functional areas and with different professions, service
- and solution-orientated personality with good communication skills, Fluency in English is must, attention to detail. Excellent time management skills and prioritization skills, strong IT skills including MS Office (Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint).

  • Must hold a current and valid Driver's License, should be able to obtain clearance with the relevant Police and Children's Worker Safety checks.
