Te Whatu Ora - Counties Manukau District is a dynamic and progressive organisation at the forefront of innovative health care delivery within the New Zealand Public Health Sector.

The Referral Management function of Acute Community Mental Health Services provides triage, advice and information for people referred to specialist mental health and addiction services.

The clinical coordinator role provides key leadership and coordination for clinical function of this service.

The role of the Clinical Co-ordinator will be required to work alongside the multi-disciplinary team consisting of Senior Medical Officer, Mental Health Clinicians and Team Manager to provide leadership, co-ordination and day to day oversight of clinical service delivery with the team.

The role also requires working closely with Intake and HBT CTC and clinicians to provide collaborative and joined up leadership across the acute function.

This will include acting as a clinical resource to the team providing coaching, mentoring and facilitating evidence based best practice to ensure that the professional development of the team is supported.

The clinical coordinator will have a key role in the current project looking to re-design of this part of the services to improve the front door service and function of mental health services in Counties Manukau.

You will be providing clinical leadership and coordination of the multi-disciplinary team with focus on the management of all non-urgent and electronic referrals to specialist MH&A services.

We are looking for a senior registered nurse with advanced clinical knowledge and skills related to mental health presentations.

There will be a requirement for relevant experience in a full range of presenting issues under specialist MH&A services including and not limited to, mental health conditions, medical co-morbidities, physical health concerns, medication knowledge and interactions, alcohol and drug related complexities.


Essential:

  • New Zealand Registered Psychiatric or Comprehensive Nurse or eligible for registration
  • Current Annual Practicing Certificate to work in Mental Health
  • Desire to gain experience in Acute Mental Health
  • Full & Current NZ Driver's Licence
  • Minimum of 5 years working within a mental health setting

Desired:

  • Postgraduate diploma in nursing or working toward
  • Completed or undertaking a relevant course/program in leadership/ management
  • Experience with MHA or DAO qualification
  • Minimum of 5 years working within a mental health setting
