The team:


At Parliamentary Service, we work at the heart of democracy to provide excellent service to New Zealand's Members of Parliament.

Our service includes our wonderful Catering group that is dedicated to showcasing New Zealand's premium hospitality services & products, delivering memorable experiences at Parliament.


The Catering team manages a number of food and beverage venues within the Parliamentary precinct; each offering a different and unique experience.

These include the Copperfield's Café, Pickwick's Bar, and New Zealand's fine dining restaurant, Bellamys.

A further function of the team is providing catering and hospitality services for functions that are held on the Parliamentary precinct.

About the role:

This role will see joining an enthusiastic and high performing team who is inspired to deliver a world class hospitality experience to not just world leaders but all Kiwis.

As our Sales & Events Coordinator, you'll play a key role in creating exceptional event experiences here at Parliament.

You'll take ownership of the coordination and delivery of these events and work hard to see that we deliver a consistent and high-quality experience every time.

This is a highly collaborative and dynamic role where you'll work closely with our Sales Manager and Events Coordinator.

You'll work as a team to see that any potential customers found by our Sales Manager can be seamlessly transitioned to hosting an event here at Parliament.

You'll be managing the inbox for our events and functions, liaising with key teams across our organisation, navigating competing priorities and working to set deadlines.

| Responsibilities**:

  • Being a key point of contact establish and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of our systems, processes and procedures.
  • Completing invoicing promptly post each event.
  • Event coordination tasks including responding to initial internal event and catering inquires, planning event details, securing internal and external resources, overseeing delivery, invoicing, and keeping the client informed.
  • Evaluate and monitor events; complete debriefing sheets, seek client feedback, send out evaluation questionnaires and follow up on comments where necessary.
  • Create longlasting and positive relationships with our internal customers including our wider catering group, operational catering team, Audio Visual team, Speaker's Office who oversee Parliament's venue's.

| What you will bring to the role**: We're looking for an experienced Coordinator who's passionate about creating exceptional events here at Parliament. You'll love the administrative side of things and come from a strong coordination background. It will be advantageous if you have event experience, but this is not essential. You'll need to be able to take ownership of the coordination of these events and be able to balance the planning, organisation, and management of competing priorities. You'll be motivated with an ability to take initiative, and an ability to remain calm in all situations. As a key point of contact in our events and sales team, you will have an ability to build positive relationships with all of our customers and present a high level of professionalism when engaging with them.

The appointing salary range for this role is $61,679 to $67,890 per annum.

Appointments will be based on skills and experience (please note, the full salary range extends beyond this to allow for tenure progression).
