The team:


At Parliamentary Service, we work at the heart of democracy to provide excellent service to New Zealand's Members of Parliament.

We offer an incredibly diverse and interesting range of services including catering and functions.

The Parliamentary Catering Team is dedicated to showcasing New Zealand's premium hospitality services & products; and delivering memorable experiences at Parliament.

The team manages a number of food and beverage venues within the Parliamentary precinct; each offering a different and unique experience; these include the Copperfields café, Pickwick's bar, and New Zealand's fine dining restaurant - Bellamys by Logan Brown.

A further function of the team is providing catering and hospitality services for the numerous functions that are held on the Parliamentary precinct.

About the role:

As our experienced Sales Manager, you'll be a strategic leader driving revenue growth within our events business, Huihui, and across Parliamentary Catering.

Our events take place across our Parliamentary Buildings which includes the historic and exceptionally unique Beehive. Our venues can support a wide range of events from business meetings and conferences to weddings.

This is a highly influential and dynamic role where you won't be confined by an office, you'll be out proactively engaging with the market showcasing our unique story, emphasizing the opportunity to host events at Parliament.

You'll work hard to establish new relationships with customers and see the enhancement of our relationships with existing customers. Overall, you'll manage the end-to-end sales process, you'll gather leads and strive to converted these into revenue.

You'll also manage and be supported by two coordinators, and you'll be driven to support and uplift their capability in their roles.


Other responsibilities will include:

  • Improve our market position of this premium hospitality venues & functions icon by seeking and maximising financial growth
  • Identify new sales & business opportunities; develop marketing materials and resources to lift revenue and build our hospitality brand awareness
  • Negotiate and close business agreements; and maintain extensive knowledge of current hospitality market trends.

What you will bring to the role:
We're looking for someone who's passionate about creating WOW factor events.

You'll thrive in an environment where you can engage and establish new customer relationships and can showcasing our story and our venues in the market.

You'll bring a well-established sales background, have existing relationships across the market and a proven track records of developing leads and transforming these into revenue.

You'll have experience shaping sales strategies and identifying opportunities to increase our revenue.

We need you to bring a high level of planning and time management skills and an ability to meet deadlines.

As you oversee the transition of leads to revenue, it's critical that you're comfortable influencing and negotiating but you also have customers at the forefront of how you operate.

The appointing salary range for this role is $100,847 to $118,158 per annum and will include an additional KPI incentive scheme.

All appointments will be based on skills and experience.
