About the role


As a Senior ICT Network Engineer, you will play a key part in delivering an exciting new project, and later manage and maintain the company's network infrastructure, including designing and implementing new solutions to meet business requirements.


You will establish our complex connectivity models and routing protocols while maintaining the performance and integrity of company network systems.


Responsibilities

  • Actively monitor network performance to ensure optimal operating levels
  • Provide analysis of network systems and identify improvements
  • Create and maintain network documentation as required
  • Foster and maintain relationships with staff, suppliers and other relevant groups
  • Design and implement new networking solutions including on premise and in the Cloud, to address WEL's evolving business requirements
  • Research existing and emerging network technologies to determine best solutions for the business
  • Work with Architecture team to identify and provide solutions to support and improve business processes
  • Install, configure, and manage network devices, switches, wireless infrastructure and firewalls

Skills and experience

  • A tertiary qualification in IT or other relevant discipline / or comparable experience
  • Recognised vendor qualification in Networking such as: CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate),

Microsoft Certified:
Azure Network Engineer Associate, ACSA (Aruba Certified Switching Associate), or Palo Alto (advanced firewall platform)

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role
  • Extensive Cisco Configuration experience
  • Good knowledge of network infrastructure including routers, firewalls, proxy servers, switches, WAN accelerators, load balancers
  • Good understanding of VLAN, BGP, Routing, IPv6, WAF, DMZ, DNS, DHCP
  • Good knowledge of softwaredefined networking infrastructure required to support access to services, PaaS and SaaS
  • Experience within the energy industry or other utility / local authority is desirable
