Our Opportunity:


In this role, your primary tasks include configuring network devices, such as switches, routers, firewalls and wireless devices to establish reliable and secure connections.

You are responsible for the physical aspect of the Mercury data centre/communication racks as well, including racking, stacking, and installing network equipment.

Additionally, troubleshooting network issues on-site and resolving any connectivity or performance problems efficiently are essential aspects of this role.

This role has the flexibility to be based in Hamilton, Rotorua or Tauranga.

Please note that we are also recruiting for a Network Engineer (reference in which that role's focus is network management, firewall management and complex operational duties along with project work.

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage and support the daytoday network operations with a strong focus on BusinessasUsual (BAU) activities.
  • Plan and execute network tasks, including migrations, expansions, installations and system integrations adhering to industry best practices and security standards.
  • Document network configurations, processes, and procedures to ensure accurate knowledge transfer and ease of troubleshooting.
  • Frequent travel to Mercury offices/sites and data centres to perform installations, configurations, and network troubleshooting as required.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends, making recommendations for network improvements and optimizations.
  • Participate in the oncall roster for afterhours support, promptly addressing and resolving any networkrelated issues.

We are looking for:

  • Experience in a Network Engineer/Specialist/Field Engineer capacity
  • Decent knowledge of routing/switching, wireless and Firewalls (PaloAlto/Fortinet), power distribution units, data centre cabling and standards.
  • Experience with data centre operations, racking/stacking and installations is preferred
  • Someone with full NZ driving license
