About the role


As a Senior ICT Engineer for Security, you will be responsible for configuring, implementing, and testing security solutions within WEL's ICT infrastructure, maintaining a robust information security management to ensure the protection of systems against security breaches and limit the potential of a cyber-attack.


You will maintain the security and integrity of company information and information systems, ensuring our ICT systems and networks operate efficiently and meet business requirements.


Responsibilities

  • Ensure all platforms are kept uptodate through patching, firmware updates and version upgrades
  • Contribute to the management of Disaster Recovery systems
  • Implement new solutions, onpremise and in the Cloud, to address WEL's evolving business requirements
  • Research existing and emerging hardware and software technologies to determine best solutions for the business
  • Monitor systems and networks' performance to ensure they operate at optimal level
  • Work with architects to identify and provide solutions to support and improve business processes

Skills and experience

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in IT or other relevant discipline / or comparable experience
  • Training in one or more of the public cloud platforms (Azure, GCS, AWS, etc.), as well as Information Security / Cyber training is preferred.
  • ITIL Foundation Certification is desirable.
  • A minimum of 5 years' relevant experience in an IT infrastructure environment or Dev/Ops engineering role.
  • Indepth knowledge of Server Operating systems including Windows, Linux and VMware esxi
  • Solid experience in Infrastructure hardware, virtualization technologies, Information Security, and IT Risk management
  • Good knowledge around networks in areas of VLAN, routing and firewalls, and around Cloud technology in the areas of infrastructure as a service, platform as a service and software as a service (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS)
  • Experience in a similar role where there is a focus on both Security and IT Infrastructure Engineering (Sec & Ops) is desirable.
