With around 300 employees, owned by and working for the community, WEL Networks has been serving the Waikato for 100 years, distributing power from the national grid, connecting over 160,000 people to electricity services.

About the role

Responsibilities

  • Manage all Linux deployments
  • Perform network and deploymentrelated system troubleshooting
  • Write technical specifications and user documentation of all deployments
  • Monitor systems and networks' performance
  • Maintain and manage systems security and protocols
  • Provide training and advice to users
  • Support continuous improvement in the use and performance of Linux systems

Skills and experience

  • A recognised Linux certification
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar role in a sizeable organisation
  • Advanced knowledge of Linux, ideally Red Hat
  • Knowledge of virtualization, scripting language, networking concepts, automatization tools, web servers and source code repository
  • A selfstarter, hungry for knowledge, who works well with people and contributes to a positive team culture


We are passionate about providing excellent service in the Technology team and will require you to have a demonstrable commitment to high quality customer service as well as high level written and spoken English language skills.
