Reporting to the Group Manager Strategy and Communications, you'll lead our capable Strategy team and oversee strategic projects, develop policy, deliver key work programmes such as the Long Term Plan, and be a respected adviser to Council leadership.

The work of our Strategy Business Unit is diverse.

- from analysing the impact of significant issues such as Nelson's changing demographics to developing a new arts strategy or advising on economic development this role has tremendous variety.

You will also have the opportunity to engage with a wide range of community groups and stakeholders.

About you | Ko ngā pūmanawa ōu
We're looking for someone who has is experienced in policy development with great leadership skills.

Your project management ability will ensure you can effectively guide your team through the complexity of Council's strategic planning and review cycles.


You will also have:
- excellent communication skills
- the ability to understand legislation and achieve compliance
- an ability to lead projects which encompass many different partners and perspectives
- a degree level qualification in a relevant field or equivalent experience

$143,000 to $151,000
