Are you looking for a new challenge in a supportive working environment? We are a people-first business and we are looking for a passionate Health, Safety and Wellbeing practitioner to join our team. This is a hands-on senior role in which you will have significant scope to influence and drive safety within our growing team. We are looking for innovative thinking, a natural relationship builder, and someone who will be a champion for health, safety and wellbeing in our civil and infrastructure construction business.

This role would suit a senior health and safety advisor wanting to develop and step up in a supportive environment or a current manager in a small-to-medium-sized business.

Key responsibilities include:

- Promote, champion, and drive continual improvement and best practice in all aspects of HSW and HSE (we do have an Environmental practitioner)
- Ability to teach and educate staff/managers about safe practice
- Ability to provide accurate and timely advice, tools and guidance, work with our teams on safety plans, and facilitate a learning environment
- Develop, implement, and maintain HSW strategies and systems
- Undertake investigation and reporting of accidents, incidents, or near-misses
- Contribute across business-as-usual operations and major projects

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- A qualification in Health & Safety will be an advantage but experience and attitude are key
- A passion for promoting and building a safe work environment
- A natural communicator and relationship builder with the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships to positively influence, encourage, and support team members across the business
- Experience or genuine interest in how technology and digital tools can contribute to safety and wellbeing
- Proven experience managing safety and a deep working knowledge of safety requirements in complex industrial settings and New Zealand’s Health, Safety and Environmental regulatory framework and legislation
- Heavy industry experience desirable i.e Mining or Manufacturing, including exposure to construction and/or earthmoving industries
- A high level of comfort with boots-on-the-ground, on-site safety and working on systems and processes that fundamentally improve safety and wellbeing as part of everything we do
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Some travel may be required
