About the Role:


As well as being a constructive and engaged executive leader of a $190M organisation, as the Director of Regional Transport Connections, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and coordinating all aspects of the region's transportation initiatives.

Public transport, policy, and education have been successfully consolidated into a single Directorate, improving operational efficiency and effectiveness.

Now, it's your turn to take the reins and build upon this success, driving transformative change and creating a seamless, integrated transport network.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including local government, Iwi, and Waka Kotahi, to develop and implement innovative transport strategies that promote connectivity and enhance the overall transport experience
  • Oversee contracted bus and train services, ensuring high performance, exceptional customer service, and adherence to contractual agreements
  • Drive the development and implementation of regional transport plans, actively competing for funding through the Regional Transport Committee
  • Lead and inspire a Senior Leadership team, fostering a culture of collaboration, excellence, and continuous improvement
  • Challenge the status quo, driving transformational change within the organisation and the broader transport ecosystem, to create a more sustainable and futureready transport system

  • Extensive experience in the transport sector, with a deep understanding of land use policies and practices
  • Proven track record in establishing and nurturing strong stakeholder relationships in complex, politically sensitive environments
  • Strategic mindset with a passion for driving innovative and sustainable transport solutions
  • Exceptional leadership abilities, empowering and motivating teams to achieve outstanding results
  • Outstanding communication and negotiation skills, enabling effective engagement with diverse stakeholders
