Executive Director, COVID-19 RCOI Team
(Fixed Term or Secondment to June 2024)

The Government has announced a Royal Commission of Inquiry into Lessons Learned from Aotearoa New Zealand's Response to COVID-19 That Should Be Applied in Preparation for a Future Pandemic.

The purpose of the inquiry is to strengthen Aotearoa New Zealand's preparedness for, and response to, any future pandemic by identifying those lessons learned from New Zealand's response to COVID-19 that should be applied in preparation for any future pandemic.

The Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (DPMC) will support the Inquiry by co-ordinating the All-of-Government input and facilitating and supporting DPMC's input.

The work will commence in early February 2023 and report back at the end of June 2024.

Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About the role
This is a newly created fixed term or secondment role for the duration of the Inquiry.

The Executive Director will be responsible for the direction and leadership of DPMC's interactions with the Royal Commission, its Chair and Panel member.

This role will shape and drive DPMC's, and the All-of-Government input.

Ko wai koe | About you
Prior experience in a COVID-19 response environment would be beneficial for context, but not essential.

As a senior leader with a public service background, you will have excellent stakeholder relationship management capabilities including across agencies.

You will have integrity, sound judgement and a strong risk management radar in a political sphere.

You will also have experience in navigating a complex work programme and leading a well-functioning team to achieve its goals.
