Wellington, Wellington, New Zealand New Zealand Government Full time

This is a fantastic opportunity for a highly skilled Executive Assistant to join the Office of the Secretary at a critical time for the Treasury and New Zealanders.

  • Fixed term to end of 202
  • Key executive support role at senior executive leadership level
  • Join our passionate and high performing team making a real difference

We have a unique opportunity for a talented and highly skilled Executive Assistant to provide additional executive support to the Chief Executive and Secretary to the Treasury (CE), and the Director, Office of the Secretary.

The role is a surge position for the rest of 2023, increasing the amount of CE EA resource currently in place, and adding new resourcing for the Director Office of the Secretary.

The CE EA role will have full ownership and responsibility in some areas and delegated responsibilities from the existing EA on diary and correspondence matters.

The rest of the role would be supporting the Director with their diary, coordinating papers, and supporting engagements with external stakeholders.

The successful applicant would be expected to be the CE's full-time EA when the existing EA is on leave or away from the office.

This is a new, pivotal support role at the core of the Treasury where, in tandem with the current EA and rest of the Office of the Secretary team, you'll be one-step ahead of the CE and Director, keeping them well-informed and prepared.

You will provide professional and polished executive support and advice, enabling the CE and Director to perform at their optimum across all areas of their roles.

The key to your success will be your ability to understand the Treasury, the role of the CE and the Office of the Secretary, and to be passionate about what we are trying to achieve.

The CE will appreciate your pro-active approach, your collaborative style and your ability to consistently deliver high quality results.
The Opportunity

  • Be a strategic team player with a high level of contact with a broad range of stakeholders
  • Enjoy a wide variety of work and a unique insight into the work of the Treasury
  • Utilise your expertise and provide mentoring and guidance to other administrators
  • Be involved in crossTreasury projects
The Role

To succeed in this role, you will have a minimum of three years' experience working at a high level in an executive assistant role, supporting senior executive leadership.

You will be required to:

  • Work in lockstep with the current EA to strategically manage complex diaries and inboxes and undertake other administrative tasks
  • Preempt the CE's and Director's needs, exercise judgement and coordinate information and resources accordingly
  • Screen, assess and manage requests of the CE's and Director's time
  • Coordinate, organise and execute requirements for meetings, briefings and international travel
  • Work closely with the Executive Leadership Team
  • Support the Treasury EA Network functions
About You

  • Team player with highly effective forward planning and organisational skills in a complex work environment
  • A desire to learn and continually improve with a growth mindset, and a passion for developing your career
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills who enjoys building and maintaining great relationships
  • Reads and understands situations, negotiates well and influences naturally
  • An ability to execute with intuition, use sound judgement and anticipate well
  • Friendly, approachable with a positive and cando attitude
  • Agile and flexible to changing needs and expectations

We Can Offer:

  • Unique, interesting and varied work with the opportunity to work closely with the CE, ELT and Director
  • Office of the Secretary
  • A supportive, highperforming team environment
  • Exposure to tasks related to a wide range of issues
  • A commitment to providing opportunities that support your development
The Treasury values diversity and inclusion and encourages a positive work/non-work balance with flexible work arrangements.
