UCOL is seeking applicants for a permanent U-Skills Transition Coordinator and Navigator. Based at UCOL's Horowhenua campus in Levin, this position will have you working with ākonga participating in U-Skills Secondary Tertiary and full time tertiary programmes of study in the Horowhenua and Kapiti region. You will drive student engagement through service delivery that overcomes challenges to the learning process and promote an active community of learning for students that embodies the Whare Tapa Whā model of education delivery.

To be successful in this role you will have extensive experience working with year olds as you will be responsible for the pastoral care and general support of U-Skills students. Your strong people and relationship building skills will see you not only creating a sense of whanau within the U-Skills programme but will have you building strong relationships with schools, parents and industry. You will ideally hold a qualification in tertiary teaching and/or the National Certificate in Adult Literacy and Numeracy Education (Vocational) Level 5 (or be working toward this); or relevant work experience in a people helping role.

The Universal College of Learning is a government-funded Institute of Technology, with four campuses in Palmerston North, Whanganui, Masterton and Levin. Skills & Experience

Experience providing pastoral care and personal support services including developing plans for a positive outcome.

Knowledge of the tertiary education sector and vocational training.

Ability to work alongside students from various social backgrounds with an awareness of a wide range of cultural issues that impact learning success.

Knowledge of the disability sector and educational needs of people with disability and impairment.

Strong relationship building and management skills
