He kōrero mō te tūranga | The Role


Providing support from within our Emergency Housing service, this role is focused on housing and connecting whānau with the community.

You will be focused on guiding tenants through the Ministry of Social Development system, health and education services where required, to enable whānau to reconnect by using your community connections to become involved in the wider community.


The service delivery side of this role will require you to work and coordinate with your colleagues in tandem to support whānau through their journey, providing a safe environment and supporting them with their goals and daily tasks.

This is a permanent full-time position, working Monday to Friday.

Duties of the role could include:

  • Coordinating with your colleagues to support whānau through their journey and achieve their goals
  • Liaising and researching other appropriate organisations in the community as well as liaising using internal stakeholders to support Whānau
  • Conducting and writing assessments and support letters
  • Responding to urgent matters and ensuring safety concerns are addressed
  • Providing support at meetings

You will need to think on your feet, remain calm under pressure and really encourage our clients along their journey.

You'll naturally be a problem solver, quick thinker and enjoy connecting with the community. You'll use your non-judgmental attitude and belief to encourage clients to change and grow.

What you need:

  • It's desirable that you'll have a level 4 or 5 qualification in Mental Health and Addiction or Social Services
  • Previous experience working within emergency housing in a similar role
  • Proven relationship management skills and experience
  • Strong computer skills, a 'cando' attitude and be able to demonstrate strong personal and professional boundaries.
  • It's essential that you have a full New Zealand driving licence
