Our role is to advocate for and grow Auckland as a business event destination and in turn, grow our economy.

As part of this commitment, we offer expert services and advice to event planners and advocate for the event industry.

The opportunity


Reporting directly to the Business Events Manager - Domestic & International, the Business Events Executive - Domestic & International focuses on driving business development activity and initiatives to help meet Auckland Convention Bureau's objectives, with the aim to grow Business Events for the Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland region by providing support to both the Business Events Manager (Domestic & International).


Some of the key responsibilities include:

  • Undertaking research to identify business event opportunities for Auckland across International and Australian market segments
  • Generating and qualifying business event leads for Auckland
  • Identifying new clients to bid for business events
  • Leading, managing and delivering convention bids
  • Postwin, assisting the client and Sales Administrator with a bespoke marketing plan
  • Working with clients to answer requests for proposals
  • Participating and representing Auckland Convention Bureau on sales missions, site inspections, familiarisations and at trade shows, events, and any other relevant sales activity
  • Occasional national and or international travel
  • Occasional evening and or weekend duties

About you
***With at least 3 years' experience in sales and marketing, ideally coming from a background in hospitality and/or tourism, you describe yourself as an innovative thinker and problem solver, naturally motivated and an effective communicator.


You are able to build value and trust-based relationships easily and understand the importance of active listening to meet client needs, combined with the proactivity to keep a strong sales pipeline to manage your deliverables.


Coming equipped with a high degree of professionalism, you will be working on world-class, competitive bids and proposals so your strong presentation abilities, positive attitude and work ethic will be imperative.

You will be confident in your cold calling and telephone manner to ensure opportunities are maximised consistently.
