Walter's Tavern has undergone a full renovation, breathing new life into this Queenstown favourite. With a fresh look and vibrant atmosphere, we're seeking an experienced Head Chef to lead the kitchen and deliver dining experiences that match our revitalised venue.

The Role

You'll take ownership of the kitchen and lead a talented brigade, ensuring every service reflects quality, creativity, and consistency. You'll manage menu development, operations, and events, balancing innovation with commercial performance.

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing kitchen team
  • Develop menus that showcase seasonal, local produce with elevated pub-style dishes
  • Oversee kitchen operations: costing, rostering, compliance, stock control, and supplier management
  • Deliver exceptional food across daily service, functions, and large-scale events
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement

About You

  • Proven experience as a Head Chef or strong Sous Chef ready to step up
  • Leadership skills with a focus on mentoring and motivating your team
  • Creative flair and a passion for delivering outstanding dining experiences
  • Commercially savvy, with confidence in costing, rostering, and minimising waste
  • Calm under pressure with strong organisation and attention to detail
