The Role:

We have an opening for a Chef Manager at our busy café located In one of our Auckland Cafes.

In this role you will be a hands-on chef actively involved in the creating, cooking, and presentation of food, as well as the day-to-day running of the cafe. Think tasty, simple meals that our customers can order and enjoy. An understanding of what the customers crave will have you well on the road to success here.

Your regular hours will be Monday to Friday, 6am – 2:30pm. You must have great organizational and communication skills to manage and oversee the cafe even after your shift has finished. Lead your team to get the job done well, challenge them to improve, as well as work together, value and support each other. To top it off, you will need to be a whiz when it comes to admin, controlling food and labour costs, ordering and all things health and safety.

This position requires a chef Manager with relevant industry experience, who can:

  • Prepare, cook, and serve a variety of cuisine
  • Monitor quality of food at all stages of preparation and presentation
  • Create menus to cater for a varied clientele and dietary requirements
  • Manage food and labour costs within budget
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards (MPI, HACCP, etc.).
  • Collaborate with site management and clients to meet expectations and drive continuous improvement.
  • Support catering for functions, special events, and promotions as required.
  • Take ownership of rostering, performance management, and training within the kitchen team.
  • Implement New Zealand Food Control and Safety regulations
  • Maintain a clean, tidy, safe and hazard free environment
  • Demonstrate great communication skills and moderate computer literacy
  • Show a flexible, can-do, committed attitude
