West Coast Womens Refuge currently has a vacancy for an individual to join the team as Advocate Support.

The Advocate support is a vital role in our refuge supporting our Woman's Advocates  with their clients who are experiencing Family Violence in the West Coast area, looking after our house, organising events, fundraising for our refuge and coordinating donations.

This is a 30 hour per week position, within the hours of the 9am – 4pm, 5 days a week Monday to Friday and is based out of the Greymouth Office. Covering the West Coast, there will be a lot of travel across the coast involved.

Experience in Social Services and an understanding of Family Violence are a plus, with full training and a robust induction provided to successful applicant.

  • Excellent administration skills, advanced level of computer skills in Microsoft office 365 and computer software and data systems. (there is a high standard of accountability that must be maintained)
  • Clean full driver's license and confident driving skills
  • No criminal history, and agree to police vetting
  • Able to network and collaboratively work with other professionals in our community.

In this role you will be responsible for

  • Assisting our Advocates in the support of their clients
  • Overseeing the smooth running/resourcing and heath and safety of our House
  • Coordinating internal events, fundraising and awareness initiatives
  • Coordinating the collection and distribution of donations
  • Attending meeting and representing our refuge in the community
  • Feeding into reporting and accountability of our refuge
  • Participating in the after-hours roster for crisis line calls and safehouse intakes
