**Ngā Ratonga - Our services**
Our service offers a 12-bed residential supported accommodation, located in Kilbirnie, Wellington. The residents we support are older adults (50 years +) who have experienced mental health distress in their lives where we offer a safe and nurturing space in this large home.
We are a supportive, collaborative, close-knit team, who aim to provide full wrap around support, inclusive of developing goals and working towards accomplishing these goals with the Tangāta Whaiora/clients we serve.
**He kōrero mō te tūranga - The role**
We are looking for a Support Worker who is positive, friendly, and compassionate, to work in our service and join our thriving team. The focus of this role is to empower and support Tāngata Whaiora to be independent, maintain their wellness and achieve their goals, as we walk alongside them and assist in any way possible.
A typical day will see our Support Workers working closely with our residents to develop goals, based on their needs, and completing tasks to achieve these goals. Capturing and accurately recording this information in our systems will also be required.
Other responsibilities of this role will include assisting with medication, encouraging residents to complete activities of daily living (ADL), supporting them with hospital appointments and shopping. We also have a housekeeper on weekdays, so cooking on the weekends will also be a part of this role.
We have one permanent, part-time position available, to work 72 hours per fortnight, across rostered shifts, between Monday to Sunday, with optional wakeover shifts available.
**He kōrero mōu - About you**
We are looking for someone who wants to make a difference, has some life experience, and won't take things personally. You'll naturally be a patient and empathetic person, who is solutions focused and often praised for using their initiative and being proactive.
Some of our Tāngata Whaiora have experienced trauma, and you'll need to resilient while building rapport and assist in redirecting their behaviour.
**We don't have many prerequisites, but you will need to**:
- have a full, clean, valid driver's licence.
- be flexible and able to work a variety of different shifts (mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays)
- be able to update and accurately record clients notes on our systems, so being comfortable with the use of computers and technology is a must.
You don't need to have a qualification, but you'll need to be willing to complete one with support from us. We're looking for someone with sound judgement and skills to manage risk and make tough decisions. Having an understanding with tikanga Māori and Te Reo Māori would be advantageous.
**Ko tā mātou mahi - We offer**
In addition to driving change within your community, you'll be doing so in a national organisation with opportunities for you to grow and develop, with ten days paid study leave on offer.
Importantly, we advocate for your well-being With three days of well-being and access to free counselling you can proactively manage your health and well-being.
AND finally, we have partnered with numerous businesses that provide our Kaimahi with store discounts such as gym membership, car rentals and furniture, to mention a few.
