About the role

As a Pouāwhina (Support Worker/Personal Assistant) at Mana Ātea', you will play a vital role in supporting the independence and wellbeing of injured and disabled individuals in the Bay of Plenty , Tauranga and Waikato area. This part-time position involves providing personalised support and assistance to help whānau maintain their desired quality of life.

What you'll be doing

  • Assisting whānau with daily living activities such as personal care, meal preparation, and light housekeeping
  • Providing companionship and emotional support to whānau, engaging them in social and recreational activities
  • Advocating for whānau needs and ensuring their preferences are respected
  • Maintaining accurate records and documentation related to whānau care
  • Collaborating with the broader care team to ensure a coordinated and holistic approach to whānau support

What we're looking for

  • Relevant qualifications or experience in aged care, disability support, or a related field
  • A compassionate, empathetic, and patient approach when working with vulnerable individuals
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with whānau
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team to deliver high-quality, person-centred care
  • A commitment to upholding the dignity, privacy, and rights of the individuals you support
