The Role

We are looking for an experienced and proactive Senior Actuarial Consultant specialising in General Insurance reserving and/or pricing to join our Auckland team. In this role, you will work closely with industry leaders in Auckland and collaborate with colleagues across our Sydney and Melbourne offices. You will take ownership of key workstreams, components of client engagements, and contribute to the development of junior team members.

Key responsibilities

• Lead projects across a range of reserving, pricing, capital and strategic projects
• Perform and review complex analyses of financial, operational and claims information
• Develop, refine and oversee actuarial models and methodologies
• Interpret model outputs, providing clear, commercially grounded insights and recommendations
• Prepare high-quality client reports, presentations and communication materials
• Deliver strategic and technical advice for multiple clients, including presentations
• Build strong, trusted relationships with clients and internal stakeholders
• Contribute to business development activities such as drafting proposals and developing client solutions
• Provide guidance, coach and mentor Analysts and Consultants
• Project management responsibilities, including developing timelines, budget and team management
• Contribute to practice management and firm management activities

Skills and experience

• 5+ years of experience within a consulting or corporate environment
• Strong experience in general insurance reserving and/or pricing
• Actuarial background strongly preferred (degree, industry experience or progress toward Fellowship)
• Advanced analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills
• Demonstrated experience working with complex datasets and modelling tools
• Proficiency in Excel, and experience with R, Python or SQL
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to tailor messaging to different audiences
• Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building capability
• Ability to operate autonomously, manage multiple priorities and drive work to completion
• Proven ability to mentor or guide junior team members
• Project management or workstream leadership experience highly valued
