The opportunity:
The purpose of the Senior Actuarial Analyst is to provide actuarial analysis and reporting including understanding of risks and available opportunities. By performing these tasks the Senior Actuarial Analyst/Actuary contributes to the profitability and effectiveness of the business in the attainment of its objectives.

About the role:
This role is key in the production and dissemination of the actuarially produced results and analysis.- Production and reporting of actuarially produced results and analysis including:

- MoS Valuation for Par and Investment products- Provide actuarial tax components for Par and Investment products
- Embedded Values and Value of New Business
- Movement in EV and source of earnings analyses- Review Prophet modelling changes and provide specifications for changes
- Actuarial statistics and other date for RBNZ returns as required
- Performance and experience analysis such as claims, lapses, expenses, and
- Information and analysis for the annual Financial Condition Report, Financial Risk Reporting and management information reports- Contribute to development and implementation of AIA’s investment strategy and strategic asset allocation- Provide leadership and professional guidance to the Team members, including ensuring the continual development as a high performing professional team- Seek continual improvements in the efficiency and quality of the financial analysis and processes

Performs other responsibilities and duties periodically assigned by supervisor in order to meet reasonable operational and/or other requirements

About you:
- Knowledge and understanding of theory and practice across at least some aspects of actuarial work (e.g. experience investigations, pricing, valuations, solvency and capital management, reinsurance, predictive modeling etc.).- Proven strong technical skills including software skills (including Sovereign systems, SQL, MS Office package, Prophet, Glean, DCS and R) and analytical skills.

Role Related Experience- Small project and/or team management experience.- Financial services industry experience (ideally life or health insurance, but other financial services experience will be also considered).- Understanding of NZ life insurance legislative and statutory requirements.- Understanding of Sovereign’s commercial environment (including products, markets and competitors).

**Qualifications**:
- Tertiary qualification with quantitative background (e.g. mathematics, statistics or engineering).- Newly qualified or passed Part 1 and Part 2 actuarial exams, or their equivalent.- Comply with continuing professional development requirements and professional standards of the relevant actuarial body.
