At Finity, you'll be part of a collaborative, cross-functional team working alongside actuaries, data scientists, engineers and software developers across Australia and New Zealand.

The Role

We are looking for a talented and driven Actuarial Consultant who specialises in General Insurance reserving and/or pricing to join our Auckland team. In this role, you will work closely with industry leaders in Auckland as well as our Sydney and Melbourne offices. Key responsibilities

• Analyse complex financial, operational and claims data to support client decisions
• Develop, maintain and enhance actuarial models and analytical tools (typically in Excel, R, Python, SQL)
• Interpret model outputs to generate meaningful, actionable insights for clients
• Examine financial projections for insurers, government bodies and other organisations
• Assess the reliability, appropriateness and limitations of source data
• Prepare high-quality written reports, presentations and other communication materials
• Working across different project types including strategic advice, valuations, pricing and capital management
• Deliver commercial and strategic advice across a diverse project portfolio
• Collaborating with clients and internal teams to solve complex business problems
• Present findings in client meetings (with support as needed), responding to questions and adapting communication to the audience

Skills and experience

• Between 2 - 5 years of experience within a consulting or corporate environment
• Previous experience in general insurance reserving and/or pricing
• Actuarial background advantageous (i.e. actuarial degree, industry experience or progress toward Fellowship)
• Strong analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills
• Experience working effectively with complex datasets
• Experience in coding and data manipulation using Excel, R, Python or SQL
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a passion for consulting
• An agile, client-first mindset, with commercial acumen and attention to detail
• Strong stakeholder management skills, with a proven ability to build relationships with clients and internal stakeholders
• Ability to manage competing priorities and work across multiple projects
• Project management skills are valued
