Bank of Baroda (New Zealand) Ltd Invites application for the post of Specialist Credit Officer for its office in Auckland.

The role of a Specialist Credit Officer in our bank would broadly include (but not limited to):

  • Conduct comprehensive credit appraisal and risk assessment for Retail, SME, Corporate, Loan Syndication, Trade Finance, and Agri lending proposals.
  • Analyze borrower financials, cash flows, repayment capacity, and collateral to determine creditworthiness and exposure risk.
  • Prepare accurate and policy-compliant Credit Appraisal Notes (CANs) for approval by sanctioning authority.
  • Ensure all sanction terms, loan documentation, and legal formalities are properly executed and verified before disbursement.
  • Coordinate with legal, compliance, and operations teams for charge creation, security perfection (PPSR/LINZ), and insurance verification.
  • Manage disbursement operations by validating pre-disbursement conditions, CBS entries, and repayment schedules.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and audit-ready loan files with all sanction documents and communications.
  • Conduct periodic portfolio reviews to monitor renewals, financial covenants, and early warning indicators.
  • Track overdue and stressed accounts, initiate timely recovery measures, and coordinate with recovery/legal teams.
  • Ensure strict compliance with RBNZ prudential reporting, AML/CFT, Privacy Act, and internal risk policies.
  • Prepare and submit accurate MIS, management, and exception reports on time for monitoring and audit purposes.
  • Support internal and external audits, regulatory inspections, and promptly implement corrective measures.
  • Ensure timely submission of credit, recovery, and prudential reports to Bank of Baroda Head Office and RBNZ, maintaining full regulatory compliance.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and contribute to policy updates, automation, and efficiency enhancement.
  • Achieve defined performance metrics, including turnaround time, portfolio quality, recovery targets, and compliance adherence.

Educational Background:

  1. Essential:

  2. Bachelor's degree in Finance, Commerce, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration.

  3. Preferred / Desirable:

  4. Chartered Accountant (CA), CPA, or ACCA.

  5. Master's degree (MBA or equivalent) with specialization in Finance, Banking, or Risk Management.
  6. Postgraduate Diploma in Banking & Financial Services or Credit Management.

Working Experience:

  1. Essential:

  2. Minimum 4 years' experience in credit assessment, loan processing, and portfolio management within a banking or financial institution (preferably in New Zealand)

  3. Preferred / Desirable:

  4. Hands-on experience in Trade Finance, Loan Syndication, and Corporate Lending.

Key Skills:

  • Strong expertise in credit appraisal, financial analysis, and risk assessment for diverse and complex lending portfolios.
  • Proficiency in structuring and evaluating Trade Finance, Loan Syndication, and Corporate Credit proposals.
  • In-depth knowledge of RBNZ prudential norms, Basel guidelines, AML/CFT compliance, and internal credit policy.
  • Skilled in credit monitoring, early warning signal identification, documentation, and security perfection.
  • Advanced analytical, portfolio management, and decision-making capabilities with focus on risk mitigation and asset quality.
