Auckland Business Development Manager

Carus is a 100% New Zealand owned and operated family business and New Zealand's leading repainting and aftercare maintenance specialist. They help extend the serviceable life and value of property assets through high-quality repainting, maintenance, and aftercare solutions, with a strong focus on moving toward more environmentally friendly options.

We're excited to support Carus in their search for a Business Development Manager to drive growth across Auckland. This is a true hunter role - you'll be out in market, opening doors, generating leads, and converting new business.

The sectors you'll target

You'll build opportunities across a diverse client base including:

  • Education
  • Aged Care
  • Body Corporate / Strata
  • Manufacturing
  • Commercial Buildings / Property & Facilities

What you'll be doing:

  • Hunt for new business opportunities across Auckland
  • Proactively generate leads through cold calling, site visits, and networking
  • Run consultative sales conversations and turn problems into solutions
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline and consistently convert opportunities
  • Plan, forecast, and report on sales performance and activity
  • Support the development of sales campaigns and growth initiatives
  • Respond to enquiries promptly and professionally
  • Partner with internal teams to scope situations and deliver strong customer outcomes
  • Manage key relationships while keeping the focus on new business growth
  • General admin and CRM upkeep to keep your pipeline clean and moving

What you'll bring:

  • Proven BDM "hunter" experience (you can show you've won new accounts)
  • Background in painting or a related sector (building, maintenance, construction)
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to pitch and influence
  • Excellent organisation, commercial acumen, and pipeline discipline
  • Ability to explain technical concepts in plain language
  • Strong relationship skills (externally and internally)
  • Confident with MS Office (and ideally CRM systems)

This is a full-time role, and some travel will be required.
