Business Development Manager (Construction Industry)

Location: Christchurch, Canterbury

We are a fast-growing construction company based in Christchurch, specialising in residential and commercial projects across the Canterbury region. Our team is passionate about delivering high-quality results with integrity, safety, and innovation. Due to continued business growth, we are seeking an experienced and driven Business Development Manager to join our leadership team.

About the Role

As the Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for identifying, developing, and managing new business opportunities within the construction and building sectors. You will play a key role in expanding our client base, strengthening partnerships, and increasing market share.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities and strategic partnerships.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with developers, architects, consultants, and subcontractors.
  • Prepare and present proposals, quotations, and tenders, and lead commercial negotiations.
  • Work closely with internal estimating, design, and project delivery teams to ensure smooth handovers.
  • Develop sales strategies and marketing plans aligned with company goals.
  • Achieve or exceed sales targets and performance KPIs.

Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 3–5 years of proven experience in business development, sales, or account management within the construction industry.
  • Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
  • Existing network within the Canterbury construction sector is highly advantageous.
  • Excellent communication, relationship management, and presentation skills.
  • Self-motivated and goal-oriented, capable of working both independently and collaboratively.
  • A valid driver's licence and willingness to travel locally for client meetings.
