About the role

This full-time Entry-Level Assistant Accountant position in Mount Wellington, Auckland offers an excellent opportunity to kickstart your career in accounting. As part of the dedicated team, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Finance Team in providing high-quality, accurate financial records.

What you'll be doing

  • Assist with the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, preparation of basic journals
  • Perform accounting tasks such as invoicing, accounts payable and receivable, and bank reconciliations
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and documentation
  • Provide support with tax preparation and filing
  • Help maintain fixed asset registers and assist in updating depreciation schedules
  • Data entry, document management and responding to internal queries
  • Contribute to the implementation of accounting policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with the wider Accounting team on various projects and initiatives

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
  • Up to 1 years experience in a finance or accounting environment
  • Strong proficiency in accounting software
  • Familiarity with key accounting standards (IFRS) and an introductory and understanding of Income Tax Act 2007 would be advantageous
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Enthusiasm to learn and develop your accounting expertise
