About the Opportunity

We're looking for a proactive and people-focused Health & Safety Coordinator to join our East Coast operations team based in Gisborne. This is a hands-on role where you'll spend time in the forest, working alongside our staff and contractors to champion safe practices and build a strong safety culture.

Reporting to the Regional Manager and supported by our national H&S function, you will collaborate closely with operational teams to:

  • Coach and guide teams on safety rules, regulations, and best practices.
  • Monitor performance, conduct audits, and investigate incidents to uncover root causes.
  • Spot trends and use data to drive continuous improvement.
  • Celebrate success and support learning when things don't go to plan.

This role is a great fit for someone who understands forestry operations and H&S legislation—or is keen to learn. We value curiosity and growth, so if you're not an expert yet, we'll support your development.

What You'll Bring

  • Proven experience working in a H&S function in a primary industry
  • Familiarity with working with industry codes of practice.
  • A strong sense of curiosity and the ability to ask the right questions.
  • Confidence to influence, coach, and build trust with a wide range of people.
  • A commitment to getting everyone home safely, every day.

Why Ernslaw?

We offer:

  • Competitive salary
  • Work vehicle with full private use
  • Health & life insurance
  • Long service leave
  • Professional development opportunities
  • A supportive, down-to-earth team that's open to change and ready to do the mahi

Ready to Make an Impact?

Send your CV and cover letter to by 5pm, Friday 7 November

Please note: You must have the right to live and work in New Zealand and hold a current NZ driver's license.
