Mō te tūranga | About the Role

The Senior Change Manager is responsible for leading and embedding strategic and operational change initiatives across the organisation. This role ensures that change is delivered in a structured, people-centric way that maximises adoption, minimises disruption, and aligns with business objectives. Working closely with senior leaders, project teams, and impacted stakeholders, the Senior Change Manager develops and executes fit-for-purpose change strategies, including stakeholder engagement, communications, training, and readiness planning. They play a critical role in assessing change impacts, managing resistance, and enabling sustainable outcomes. As a senior practitioner, they also contribute to the development of change capability across the organisation, mentoring others and championing best practices through communities of practice or governance forums.


• Lead Change Strategy Development Design and implement tailored change management strategies that align with organisational goals and project objectives.


• Stakeholder Engagement & Communication. Identify key stakeholders, build engagement plans, and deliver clear, targeted communications to drive awareness and support.


• Impact & Readiness Assessment. Conduct change impact analyses and assess organisational readiness to inform planning and interventions.


• Training & Enablement. Collaborate with Learning & Development and SMEs to develop and deliver training programs that equip staff for successful adoption.

• Resistance Management. Proactively identify potential resistance and develop mitigation strategies to support smooth transitions.


• Change Implementation Oversight. Manage the execution of change plans, ensuring timely delivery, alignment with project milestones, and minimal disruption to operations.


• Change Effectiveness Measurement & Benefits Realisation. Define success metrics, monitor adoption, and evaluate outcomes to ensure sustained change and value delivery.


• SME & Leadership Coaching. Support and coach senior leaders, SMEs, and people leaders to fulfil their roles in leading change effectively.


• Governance & Reporting. As required, provide regular updates to governance forums, track risks and issues, and ensure transparency across change initiatives.


• Capability Building. Champion change management best practices and contribute to the development of organisational change capability.

• Stakeholder Engagement: Identifies and manages diverse stakeholder groups, tailors messaging to different audiences, navigates resistance with empathy and tact.


• Communication Excellence: Crafts clear, compelling narratives around change, facilitates workshops, town halls, and feedback loops, active listening and emotional intelligence to foster trust.


• Change Impact Analysis: Assesses organisational readiness and change saturation, maps impacts across roles, processes, and systems, uses data to inform decision-making and measure success.


• Training & Enablement: Partners with relevant teams to design effective training, ensures staff are equipped for new tools, processes, and behaviours, monitors uptake and adjusts enablement strategies as needed.


• Coaching & Capability Building: Mentors leaders and SMEs to lead change within their teams, builds internal change capability through frameworks and toolkits, champions continuous improvement and learning.
