This role offers the opportunity to work on diverse projects across different regions and may at times require travel and occasional stays away from home.

About the role:

We're looking for skilled and motivated Civil Foremen to join our dynamic team at Chetwins Contracting based in Wellington.

As a Civil Foreman at Chetwins Contracting, you'll play a key role in leading site crews and driving successful delivery of civil and drainage projects. Working closely with the Operations Manager, you'll oversee daily operations, manage resources, and ensure all work is completed safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards.

Key responsibilities include:

- Team Leadership: You'll lead and manage a crew, ensuring tasks are completed to the highest standards, while providing mentorship and training to apprentices and junior staff.

- Project Delivery:You'll work closely with the Operations Manager to oversee all aspects of project execution, from resource allocation and job progress to ensuring timelines and budgets are met.

- Health & Safety Management:You'll ensure all onsite health and safety protocols are followed, maintaining a safe working environment and ensuring all required documentation is up to date.

- Quality Control: You'll oversee the quality of work, including reviewing plans and drawings, conducting QA tests, and ensuring compliance with project specifications.

- Communication:You'll act as a key point of contact between site teams and management, providing updates on job progress and any challenges that arise.

What you will bring:

To succeed in this role, you will need:

- At least 2 years' experience in a Foreman or leadership role within the civil construction industry.

- Proven experience in drainage, earthworks, and civil siteworks. Operating experience required.

- The ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.

- Excellent communication and leadership skills to effectively manage crews and collaborate with site teams.

- A strong understanding of health and safety regulations in construction.

- Full Class 1 Driver's License (Class 2 or WTR endorsements aa advantage).
