**Te Aka Mātauranga Matepukupuku - The Centre for Cancer Research**
Te Aka Mātauranga Matepukupuku is a newly established University of Auckland Research Centre and will be the largest cancer research centre in Aotearoa New Zealand and will be co-led by Māori. It will connect over 300 researchers from multiple backgrounds, disciplines, and institutions. It will link their work meaningfully and equitably with community aspirations in multiple domains, including cancer prevention, science, care, and workforce.

Our mission is to provide national leadership in transdisciplinary cancer research. This will improve the understanding, care, prevention, and treatment of cancer in Aotearoa New Zealand, in a way that meets the needs of our communities.

**Job Description**:
**Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity**
Te Aka Mātauranga Matepukupuku will be a place of global relevance. It embeds values of whanaungatanga (relationships) and whakapapa (inter-generational continuity). It will unify the cancer research capacity of the University of Auckland and its affiliates. It will make audible the voice of whānau and community affected by cancer.

Te Aka aspires to be a 'front door' for cancer research. Its scope includes biomedical science, technologies for prevention, diagnosis, treatment, development and evaluation of health technologies and services, and understanding of the meaning and role of cancer in society.

You will work with the Research Operations Manager and the Centre's directors to help implement and optimise our strategy and plans. This will involve contributing to and at times leading initiatives that range from researcher support, events and engagement, and fund opportunity management. Your excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills, organisation, and ability to take initiative and operate in a dynamic environment will be key to your success.

Our Research Centre operates at the intersection of research, clinical practice, and patient experience.. You will bring with you an understanding of research operations and administration to help develop and deliver novel programs of work that go beyond business as usual, and you will effectively and efficiently harness University processes and systems to further the objectives and mission of the Centre.

This is an exciting and dynamic role. Your day may include interacting with people across distinct disciplines across the country, supporting our funding rounds, to organising hui including outreach and education, as well as general operations and administration to help us meet our goals. You will play a key part in how we achieve our vision. The experiences and relationships you bring will be an asset to our growth and potential.

This is a fulltime (37.5 hours per week), 36 month fixed term role.
Remuneration: $70,000 - $82,200 dependent on experience
