**Tēnei tūranga - About the role**:
This is newly created position is a great career development opportunity. It will suit someone who already has 2 - 3 years’ experience in communications and is looking to further develop their career while helping deliver an ambitious work programme to transform the construction sector. From videos to webinars, newsletters and LinkedIn posts, you will help to plan and create a range of content that will inspire people in the construction sector and shine a light on the achievements of the Construction Sector Accord.

You will bring strong digital capability, and an eye for good design and engaging content to produce high quality communications collateral. Working with the Strategic Communications Lead you will develop an understanding of the most effective channels and communications strategies for reaching and influencing stakeholder groups across the construction sector.

The work will be fast paced and varied in a small, agile, close-knit team based in Wellington and Auckland. We work flexibly and collaboratively to achieve results.

Tasked with delivering quality results that contribute to the Accord’s outcomes, you will among other things:

- Develop communications strategies and plans, and work with relevant Accord teams to implement those strategies and plans.
- Lead in the development of communications material as required, including the development of engaging case studies.
- Coordinate publication of prepared content to the Accord’s communication channels, such as newsletters and LinkedIn posts.
- Provide editorial support for communications material, i.e. proofread, identify and correct document format issues.
- Support the Strategic Communications Lead to commission other communications material, such as design work and video content, to support the development of the Accord’s brand and the development of material that will reach a diverse and dispersed audience.
- Support the Accord team’s presence at events, including liaising with internal and external stakeholders to prepare agendas, coordinate speakers, prepare and distribute supporting collateral.

An understanding of government would be a real advantage in this role, as would a degree in communications or equivalent knowledge. Your experience should also include:

- Relevant experience in the development and implementation of communications and engagement strategies and plans, and in the writing and delivery of appropriate and audience-focused products.
- Proven ability to develop targeted communications content, including newsletters, press releases, social media posts, case studies and articles for a diverse audience.
- Proven ability to identify and understand external customer needs and adapt style and language to meet them.
- Proven ability to actively engage with a broad range of internal stakeholders, including operations and policy teams, in order to shape communications approaches.
- Knowledge, and preferably experience of, communications best practices and its potential impact on raising engagement and collaborative behaviour.
- Understanding of public sector processes and how government works. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain constructive and effective relationships at all levels.
- Experience and ability in basic but professional design work, relating to collateral creation, social media banners, report layout and design and formatting documents.
- A solid understanding and experience in communication across digital and conventional channels.
