Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role
The Communications Advisor role sits within the Strategy, Governance and Engagement unit (SGE). The team flexes as needed to deliver two primary functions: One focused on the direction and development of DPMC and the second focused on providing services to the organisation and key stakeholders. The focus of this role will be on providing advice and delivering communications primarily for internal audiences.
A glimpse of the communications activity you'll be involved in:
- Developing and implemented targeted communications strategies and plans
- Culture building engagement and communications activity
- Managing internal channels, including the DPMC intranet - telling compelling stories and creating content that helps people feel connected with each other and that build our way of working
- Anticipating issues that might impact adversely on the Group's and DPMCs interests
- Developing and maintaining strong relationships to ensure a communications perspective is incorporated early into work that is significant or presents communications risks or opportunities
- Working with the Director of Communications and Engagement on external and media matters as required

**DPMC has eight business units**: Cabinet Office, Child Wellbeing and Child Poverty Reduction Group, Covid-19 RCOI, Government House, Implementation Unit, National Security Group, Policy Advisory Group, and Strategy, Governance and Engagement. DPMC is also the host of the Cyclone Recovery Unit and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).

To be successful in this role, you should be able to demonstrate experience in the following:
- Success in delivering communications strategies and material ideally in a government agency
- Strong communication and writing skills, including for digital channels
- Developing and overseeing intranet content
- Ability to work in complex, fast-paced, deadline driven environments
- Ability to quickly establish trust and confidence with key internal and external stakeholders
- An understanding of, and commitment to, the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi).
In return, you'll work closely with the Director Communications and Engagement and other senior leaders and to learn and grow through experiences across DPMC business units.
Ta matou e tuku | What we offer
We are looking to appoint in the range of $90,000 - $100,000 p/a (including Kiwisaver contributions), and according to relevant experience level.
