Role Summary

The Business Development Associate, is a member of the Business Development team at Russell Investments. The team is responsible for expanding the Russell Investments footprint in New Zealand through the marketing of the firm’s products and services. The role will be responsible for contributing to the sales and marketing efforts targeting financial advisors, intermediaries and institutional investors in the local market. This will involve supporting the efforts of the senior salespeople through the development of marketing materials and collateral, assisting with the updating and management of the Client Relationship Management (CRM) system, providing analysis and research on the Russell Investments managed funds (and competitors) as well as engaging directly with clients and prospects of the firm.

A key part of the role will be developing a strong understanding of the products and services offered by Russell Investments and working together with colleagues to develop innovative sales and marketing strategies.

This role will be based in Auckland and is an excellent opportunity for professionals early in their careers looking to take the next step in their sales and marketing careers. The longer-term opportunity is to develop into a fully-fledged sales role or transition into a relationship management or investment role for Russell Investments.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist the sales and marketing efforts of Russell Investments in New Zealand through providing wide-ranging support to the Business Development team as it engages with the firm’s clients and prospects (mainly financial advisors, intermediaries and institutional clients).
- Development of sales and marketing collateral (I.e. creation of PowerPoint presentations, marketing flyers, fund profiles and Requests for Proposals) for use by the local business
- Working closely with senior salespeople to ensure appropriate coverage of clients and prospects and co-ordination of coverage (e.g. inviting clients and prospects to webinars and events, providing analytical assistance).
- Responsibility for maintaining and managing the Client Relationship Management system (currently Microsoft Dynamics), including ensuring data is relevant and current to meet the needs of the NZ business.
- Report on competitor activity where possible, including collateral.
- Attend meetings, industry conferences and events with senior salespeople as required.
- Ensure sufficient product knowledge to be able to respond to ad hoc enquiries and requests for information.
- Work closely with Australian sales associates (and where appropriate in other offices) to ensure sharing of sales and marketing best practices
- Work closely with the relevant marketing teams and Regional Office lead to support and facilitate any client related events, seminars and conferences with on the ground logistics, co-ordination and catering support.

Skills/Attributes Required

Knowledge and Experience
- Minimum 1-3 years prior experience in financial services roles, with a strong desire to succeed within fund management sales and marketing. Ability to develop pro-active sales activities with target clients, development of new ideas to stimulate new business, resulting in the generation of a strong stream of sales opportunities for Russell Investments broad product offering.
- Desire to learn about and be part of the fund management industry
- Excellent knowledge of the New Zealand adviser industry and investment industry.

**Skills**:

- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, internally and externally
- Some exposure to financial data systems preferred (I.e. Morningstar Direct, FactSet, Bloomberg etc.) and strong capabilities in Microsoft office (I.e. PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Teams)
- Strong presentation and persuasion skills.
- Strong analytical skills to understand sales planning and enable effective decision making
- Tertiary Qualification in Commerce/Business or Advice preferred
- Consultative selling approach and capabilities
