**About the company**:
Queenstown Lakes District Council plays a pivotal role in the enhancement and maintenance of the livability and quality of the beautiful environment of the district. The district is experiencing substantial growth in both residential population and international and domestic visitor numbers. On a peak day in 2021, visitor numbers totalled 99,200, the projections estimate these numbers to reach 152,910 on a peak day by 2031. With this type of growth, QLDC is needing to grow their own workforce There are currently 550 employees, along with a number of partner organisation’s that deliver services on behalf of Council.

With over $1.6 billion of capital investment to be made in the next 10 years, it’s an exciting time to join the organisation and be a part of the change.

**About the role**:
In this role, you will be responsible for drafting policies and guidelines, leading research, monitoring outcomes under the RMA and LGA, responding to District Plan enquiries and preparing planning strategies, analysis reports, plan changes and evidence, and advising the Council on urban and rural planning policy and RMA matters.

**About you**:
Our ideal applicant will be a highly motivated, innovative, and achievement-orientated professional. You will need to have a tertiary degree qualification in planning or a related discipline to be successful in this role, along with membership of the New Zealand Planning Institute, or eligibility for.
- Ability to develop and maintain relationships across a broad range of stakeholders
- Strong oral and written skills
- Experience in both consenting environments and policy planning is desirable
- Experience with district plan reviews within a New Zealand context
