We're looking for a proactive and technically skilled infrastructure planner who's passionate about shaping the future of our district's Three Waters network. You'll thrive in a collaborative environment, using your expertise to deliver smart, sustainable, and forward-thinking planning solutions.

What you'll be doing / He aha te mahi

We're seeking a technical infrastructure planner to provide strategic planning expertise for QLDC's Three Waters assets, shaping the district's long-term infrastructure vision. This role will drive the development of masterplans, planning tools, and programmes that support sustainable and future-focused growth.

The role will involve:

  • Providing technical and strategic input into long-term infrastructure and spatial growth planning for QLDC's Three Waters assets.
  • Developing and maintaining masterplans, improvement programmes, and planning tools to support sustainable infrastructure outcomes.
  • Leading feasibility, options, and concept design phases for demand management and infrastructure projects.
  • Collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders to align infrastructure planning with Council's strategic direction.
  • Integrating industry best practice, research, and innovation to drive continuous improvement in planning processes.

What you'll bring to the role / Ko wai to Pukeka

You'll bring a strong understanding of three waters infrastructure planning, urban growth, and local government processes, with the ability to translate strategy into practical, future-focused solutions. Your technical expertise, collaborative approach, and innovative mindset will help shape sustainable infrastructure outcomes for the district.

To best succeed in this role, you'll have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in engineering, planning, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in three waters infrastructure or strategic infrastructure planning.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to develop practical, evidence-based solutions.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • A proactive and innovative approach, staying current with industry best practice and emerging trends.
