- Pursuing or completed a degree in natural, physical, environmental sciences, or related field.
- Team player who enjoys working outdoors and is passionate about our taiao environment.
- Reasonably fit and ready for action, capable of handling heavy lifting and walking to sites.
- Road trip lover? You’ll be driving long distances across the scenic Waikato Region - full drivers licence required.
- Confident swimmer, comfortable in and around water.
- Detail oriented with high self-motivation.
- Commitment to maintaining high health and safety standards.
**Mō te tūranga**| About the role**:
Join our thriving Water Quality Monitoring Team, based in Hamilton, and embark on fun field adventures, ki ngā tōpito katoa o te rohe o Waikato - to every point of the Waikato region, from the stunning waters of Coromandel to the majestic Lake Taupō and beyond.
**This position involves**:
- Water quality sampling of rivers, streams, and lakes using our standard operating protocols.
- Weekly visits to freshwater and coastal recreational sites for sampling.
- Use handheld instruments to measure various water quality parameters in the field.
- Calibrate and maintain field equipment regularly.
- Enter data using mobile apps and process data quality assured data to our sample management system and databases.
- Undertake site maintenance to required safety standards.
- Assist our environmental monitoring and science staff with exciting projects, both in the field and office.
- This role is fixed term starting in November 2025 and ending February 2026.
