Wellington
- Full time
- Fixed Term Contract until 30 July 2025
Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is dedicated to serving all New Zealanders. Through integration and collaboration, we're building a health system underpinned by partnership, equity, sustainability, whānau-centred care, and excellence.
**About the Role**
This is your chance to play a key role in shaping the future of digital health in New Zealand
As our Manager - Self Service Channels, you will step into a role that's all about impact and collaboration. Leading a dedicated team of four, you'll be at the helm of a fast-moving website consolidation project with an ambitious roadmap through June 30, 2025, and virtual product teams for key initiatives like My Health Record, Health NZ websites, and Zero Data, working collaboratively with partners in leadership across Health NZ and the health sector: communications, public health, care pathways, and many others.
This will be a pivotal time for executing on strategy as well as determining the next steps for Health NZ's self-service channels. You will drive strategic partnerships, oversee a dynamic portfolio of projects and products, manage budgets and commercial arrangements, and guide your team through a period of organisational change.
With our current manager on parental leave, we're looking for a driven leader who can hit the ground running. You will bring along your vision, resilience, and a collaborative spirit to keep the momentum strong, making a genuine difference in New Zealand's digital health journey.
**About the Team/Service/ Location**
Our Sector Digital Channels team is at the heart of transforming nationally enabled services, driving change to make health information and services more accessible and affordable. We're on a mission to bring sustainable, user-friendly digital solutions to life—from self-service options that empower users to seamless integrations that lighten the load for our workforce, health consumers, and whānau. Our team is passionate about delivering and supporting the digital experience for all our national external services, keeping everything running smoothly with our eyes on the future.
In the Design and Channels area, we're responsible for creating and delivering consumer-focused digital products used by people across Aotearoa. Our goal? To make sure our products are not only accessible to the widest audience possible but also provide a seamless and consistent experience across every channel—supporting fair access for everyone.
The Self-Service Channels team plays a big role in this mission, building high-impact digital health tools for all New Zealanders. From health information websites to platforms that help people access their own health records, we're all about creating digital solutions that make a difference.
**About you**
In this role, you will be a leader with skills in people management, financial management, and strategy development and execution. You will be experienced in guiding and governing autonomous teams through project and product management.
With your finger on the pulse of best practices and strategies in New Zealand and internationally, especially in health, government, and digital tech, you'll keep learning and love sharing that knowledge. Curiosity, collaboration, and attention to detail are at the heart of who you are, along with being an exceptional and flexible communicator that will make you a vital connection across teams.
You will bring along:
- A strong understanding of the machinery of Government and planning and performance functions.
- Demonstrated ability to motivate and encourage teams in an environment of change, financial prudence and an increasing level of digital maturity across the organisation
- Proven relationship building skills and well-developed communication skills.
- Previous work experience in the health sector is desirable.
- Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
