Te whiwhinga mahi/The Opportunity
You'll be leading a small team that deliver health and safety best practice across the wider Te Tāhū o te Ture. It is a role focused on engaging with our people to improve outcomes and develop initiatives to integrate health and safety into everything we do. You'll be joining a supportive health, safety, and security team who work within an atmosphere where autonomy and flexibility compliments the challenging and dynamic work environment.
Your ability to build effective relationships, and influence others is crucial. As the Health, Safety Operations Director you will be expected to provide strategic and analytical advice, plan and support the effective delivery of strategic programmes that influences improved health, safety outcomes at a national level.

- Continually improve health and safety maturity across an organisation.
- Promote continuous development of safety management systems, standards, and tools throughout our business.
- Undertake site risk assessments and lead investigations to provide advice or make recommendations to our senior leaders.

Ko wai mātou/Who we are
The Health, Safety and Security Rōpu are nearly 400 kaimahi strong, spread all over te motu. We are a fun team so an appropriate sense of humour would be an asset. Mātauranga Māori is embedded in all our mahi, and we continue to grow and develop our skills in this area. We work hard every day to ensure all that work in or come into our sites and the courts across Aotearoa are kept as safe and well as possible.
Our teams are often operating in high pressure environments, mitigating significant risk in a reactive space, whilst trying to plan and drive more proactive accountability for health, safety, and security across Te Tāhū.

He pūkenga tou/Skills and Experience

**To be successful in this role you will have**:

- Passion for continuous improvement and outside the box thinking
- Experience in supporting people to succeed as opposed to just being compliant
- Experience with writing, reporting, and training at a governance / board level
- Experience in leading a team or influencing people, leaders of people and stakeholders, to continually improve an Organisational health and safety system
- Demonstrated ability to provide strategic and analytical advice, plan and deliver on strategic improvement programmes that influence improved HSW outcomes at a regional level
- Timely decision making, while handling multiple priorities, and deals comfortably with concepts and complexities without getting caught up in excessive detail
- Demonstrated ability to balance national strategic priorities with local/regional needs and interests
- Level 6 Dip and/or tertiary qualified in Occupational H&S or similar

Utu ā-tau/Salary
The remuneration band for this role is $143,662 to $201,170. Appointing salary will be based on skills and experience.
